The Veggie World was<\/strong> held in Paris on 18 and 19<\/a> May 2019. An event that I did not want to miss in particular to meet different organizations and companies fighting for a specific cause.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where does this veganism come from?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Before presenting the different brands I have seen, it is important to understand where this veganism comes from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vega<\/strong><\/span>n is an English term that was first used in 1944 by Donald Watson, co-founder of the Vegan Society which is a syncope of the English word veg<\/span>etarian<\/span><\/strong>. In 1951, the official definition of vegan was affirmed by living without exploiting animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This explains better why I met a lot of vegans in London. It's almost a crime not to see at least one vegan dish served in restaurants there. Of course, we must not overlook the large Indian population that is present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In France, the term vegan entered the le Petit Robert diction<\/em>ary only in 2015. According to BioLin\u00e9aires, between 2 and 3% of the French population (or one million) consider themselves vegetarian or vegan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this event at Veggie World, it is an opportunity to exchange and discover the different vegan fashion, accessories and beauty brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spoke at length with Th\u00f9y,<\/i><\/a> the founder of this brand C<\/a>olibries<\/span><\/a>. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecolog<\/strong><\/span>y: These accessories are made from paper they call Paper Tex; it is a lightweight kraft paper, which has a high tear-resistant and made from biodegradable and natural fibers. It is easily machine washable (40 degrees without softening).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethics<\/strong><\/span>: Th\u00f9<\/a>y knows personally the employees who make these bags. "In Vietnam, young women find it difficult to find work and turn to prostitution," Th\u00f9y tells me, "B<\/em>y employing<\/a> them, I am committed to helping them get them out of this environment<\/em>."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adelana's anec
<\/strong>dote, since my stay in Benin about ten years ago, I remember experiencing a scene that deeply shocked me: the slaughter of a goat for cooking. The goat was then served to us surrounded by different local dishes.Despite the fact that this is "nicely" presented, I did not eat it.<\/p>

With this experience, I can understand the people who become vegans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
