Petites Culottés: Eco-responsible menstrual panties and Made In France

Square

Many menstrual panties exist today. You’ve probably seen them on supermarket shelves and on social media. Most boast of being eco-responsible or even ethical, but be careful not to fall into traps. When on the one hand there are brands looking for a new market, others focus on our well-being and our environment. This is the case of the Petites Culottés.

More than 10,000 to 15,000 towels and tampons are thrown away by a woman throughout her life. A budget of 2000 euros and not to mention additional costs such as painkillers, underwear or damaged sheets, etc. So, when a brand like Little Culottés shows up in our News Feed, curiosity quickly takes over.

Birth

In 2018, Shonnead, a young business school graduate at EM Normandie, decides to respond to a growing need: to facilitate women’s daily lives during their periods and to restore their self-confidence. She created the brand Petites Culottés by aspiring to become the brand of responsible panties and 100% Made in France.

Made in France – Reducing the carbon footprint

Made In France is a term to use with caution. It is now easier for consumers to check whether production is local. Otherwise, controversies could be generated.
Little Culottés have them, a strict production line. Whether it is by choosing fabrics up to the finish, everything is elaborated in France.

Promises are kept

I tested the panties “Tanga the indispensable” in light flow (for lack of availability) that I wore on days when my flow was abundant as reduced. Unsurprisingly, it lasted 6 hours during the first days of the period and 10 hours at the end of the rules. I didn’t have a problem with humidity and smells.

As far as the quality of the fabric is concerned

The fabric is very pleasant to the touch. They use OEKO-Tex certified cotton which provides an additional guarantee on the non-toxicity of fabrics and dyes used for their panties.
I washed it 3 times by hand with a natural soap. Be careful not to wash them with over-fat soaps. It is recommended to take a gentle and anti-allergen laundry.

To ensure a long lifespan, I would advise you:

  • Buy organic liquid laundry.
  • Rinse with cold water before putting it in the machine.
  • To wash it with similar colors at 30 degrees (They say 40 degrees on their site, but for lingerie, I prefer to stay at 30).

On the creative side, what does it look like?

The rules panties can be as sexy as a classic panties. High panties, shortys and waist, decorated with floral lace or embroidery suitable for all.

There is a first time at all

When I talk about it around me, there are still some apprehensions about menstrual panties. But as with everything, you have to try for the first time to get an idea whether it’s right or not.

Do I validate the Little Cuddlys? The answer is yes! I will buy the panties with abundant flow without hesitation. Small Culottés meet the expectations of those who favour local brands. Try it at home first before wearing it to go to the office, for example.

For those who would be held back by price, think this way: quality always takes precedence over quantity.

  • A pack of 12 normal flow sanitary towels costs an average of $2.50. We buy them in about once a month so over a year it would cost you: 30.
    Is it Reusable? Not
  • A small Culotté panties with abundant flow costs 48 euros (59 if you want the fancy side) Knowing that you can re-use it for up to 3 years.
    Is it reusable? Yes

Menstrual panties are undeniably profitable and you can wait about 3 years before throwing them away.
