Routine Zero Waste with Makosmé

Wax pochon with Makosme box products

My zero-waste transition settles into my daily routine including that of beauty. Between some DIY recipes and organic cosmetics applications, I agreed to test the products offered by Makosmé.

Maksomé offers a box that we receive every 2 months where several products are offered (between 4 and 5 large format products). All products are carefully selected by meeting several criteria:

– Quality: Organic, vegan, textiles etc-
Ethics, example: Made in France

I decided to compose a box “zero-waste” to have only products whose packaging is recyclable and where their composition generates little waste.

Konjac sponge

Loofah with violet

This sponge has become indispensable to me on a daily basis. A new addiction that adds to my beauty routine.

How do I use it?

The instructions indicate that it should be immersed in lukewarm water for 5 minutes and then wring it out. Personally, I pass it under water until it is soaked and then I spin it while passing it on my face. There are no restrictions on using it for the body as well. I’m not a mom, but I think this type of sponge would be perfect for infants.

Its benefits

Amorphophallus Konjac

Made from the plant Amorphophallus Konjac, native to Japan, this sponge is therefore 100% biodegradable. The Konjac sponge has the effect of detoxifying and purifying the skin.
It is possible to find sponges with clay, rose, charcoal, etc. It’s up to you to choose the one that best suits your needs.

I use it now for two months and it has not moved too much. I hope to keep it until the end of the year.

Takesumi Cleansing Powder

Cleansing powder and mask

Until now, I had already tried clay masks or banana masks, but this powder is a real energy cocktail. It is made from raw or unprocessed edible raw materials including:- Azuki powde
r which is composed of Japanese red beans: it cleanses and eliminates dead cells and impurities- Takesumi
composed of bamboo charcoal: it detoxifies- ric
e starch: hydrates and protects cells from oxidative stress
– Green clay: softens and soothes

All these properties on your face have plenty to feed her.

How do I use it?

In full application of the nourishing powder

I followed the instructions to moisten my face and pour some powder to spread it out as I went along. This method was not the most practical for me. So instead, I pour a little powder into about 20 cl of water that I mix. It works well, too.

Remember to keep the bottle when finished. He can always serve.

Make-up remover balm

This little balm of the brand So it grows is very convenient for those who would not bother to wet the face. It is a make-up remover that can be applied dry.

How is this balm “zero-waste”?

In contrast to a classic cream that can hold up to 80% water, it is a formula composed with little water as well as different plants like hemp, rosemary, wild apple and sunflower and hazelnut oils.

The glass jar is kept once the product is finished which can be useful for making its own balm.

La Fouta

I didn’t get a chance to take it out because we were getting closer to the fall and I wasn’t spending as much time in the parks anymore. But apart from the fact that the fouta is used during a picnic. it may as well be useful as a bath towel, tablecloth or even loincloth.

Certifications please

Made in France, Le Staff’s Fouta is 100% natural with non-toxic dyes. It is OEKO-TEX 100 certified. This can reassure the quality of production and the materials used. It is a slightly rough material but becomes softer as the washings.

General return

If you want to move smoothly to organic and healthy products without breaking the bank, a Makosme box is worth it. I had already tested other boxes such as Biotyful Box. But not all products matched my skin type. Makosmé gives this opportunity to choose its box based on its skin type.

The price

Comparing the different boxes I was able to test, the price of the subscription is slightly more expensive than the average but justified. On average, a beauty box costs 30 euros per month. Theoretically it is better to start on a year-round subscription. Subscription-free engament is still expensive compared to other brands. If you add up each product, the box is worth more than 70 euros. Makosmé rounds it up to 60 degrees when other brands manage to lower it on average around 30-40 for 5 products.

Founder of the Makosmé brand

A: Why did you create Makosmé?

C-S. : I launched Makosmé at the end of 2017 with the desire to bring more visibility on ethical and virtuous solutions to consumer-producers of care/beauty products. This activity stems from a pro conversion because I wanted to participate in something bigger and with meaning. My last intermittent assignments was in the production/directing/audiovisual direction at the Cité du Cinéma in Paris, I started in the great animal documentary (always with this desire to share positive things playfully). I continue to support projects when possible, it is one of my passions. In short, having declared an infant of severe atopic eczema, I had the opportunity throughout my life to test many very healthy cosmetic solutions, chemical, natural, from petrochemicals etc. With this experience, I continue to find brands that have a real benevolent ambition with healthy materials.

A: Do you support charities through Makosmé?

Indeed, Makosmé has been thought out in a committed sense and to bring more equity in access to beauty and well-being. We also eat and drink with our skin so we might as well have keys to understand what we apply. For the moment, I am looking to strengthen Makosmé’s business by building a solid foundation for it so that it can really help. Starting from scratch 3 years ago, the marketing of high-end ethical cosmetics is an activity that continues to teach me a lot about its issues as well as about me. I have been immersed since I was a child in associations and commitments thanks to parents very committed at the local level and more. I was taught early on the difference between solidarity and sacrifice. And I know that to truly give, you have to be anchored in order to be fair to your neighbor and to yourself. The purpose of Makosmé is obviously to participate, or even to create altruistic projects which is a real impact. Not just one-off actions for com. Because of my history, many causes touch me and hold me to heart such as support for women, associations of Central African Republic, environmental actions or artistic movements to awaken.
